Sean Stephenson

International Law Associate

Sean Stephenson is an international law associate and a member of the Bar of Ontario. Sean holds an LL.M. from University College London, where he was a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, which focused on international environmental law. He graduated magna cum laude from the National Program at the University of Ottawa’s Faculty of Law, where he received both J.D. and LL.L. degrees. Sean grew up in Saskatchewan and he attended the University of Regina before law school.

Sean has a strong interest in international law. He is the Associate Editor of Appleton’s Investor-State Reports and the Investor-State Reports Digest. Since 2010, he has been an Associate Fellow with the Center for International Sustainable Development Law, where he has engaged in research relating to international environmental and sustainable development law. He frequently publishes academic articles and commentary on a range of international and domestic law topics.

Prior to joining Appleton & Associates, Sean worked at a Canadian-based international law firm in the areas of trade, investment, and litigation.
